Shocking! Bride Dumps Groom In Church On Wedding Day
                                                                    The dumped groom
Oh dear, a bride in Anambra State has dumped the man she is supposed to marry on their wedding day because she says she is a graduate and he is nothing but a school dropout. But the shocker is this; the said groom was the one who sponsored her through school. Also find out how she broke the news to him after the cut. Report by PM News.

A final student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, did the unthinkable when she snubbed her groom on her wedding day and called off the wedding already arranged by the two families.

The wedding was to take place on Saturday, 3 January, 2015 and guests invited to witness the ceremony at St Patrick Catholic Church, Umuchu in Aguata Local government, Anambra State, were shocked when Ifunanya Igwebuike refused to show up to tie the knot with Ekene Uzoigwe.

After several hours of waiting, she later sent a message to the Parish Priest, Rev. Father Lawrence Maduagwu, that she was no longer interested and asked him to cancel the wedding.

Ifunanya alleged that she could not go ahead with the marriage because she was a graduate unlike Uzoigwe whom she claimed was a school drop-out.

Rev. Maduagwu had no option than to inform the groom and the guests that were already seated at the church hall that the wedding had been cancelled.

This caused an uproar in the church as guests who expressed shock over what happened started trooping out of the church.

Narrating what happened,  Uzoigwe said he proposed to Ifunanya for marriage and she agreed on condition that he would send her to school, which he agreed.

He said after she gained admission, he was financing her education and they agreed to wed during her final year.

He said he had paid her bride price and she was part of the whole wedding plan and he even gave her parents N160,000 to prepare for the wedding, besides other arrangements and expenses incurred on the wedding and reception.

Uzoigwe said she did not inform him about her decision to back out of the wedding until he got to the church only for the priest to inform him and the guests about  the cancellation of the wedding.

"If she had informed me, I would not have made arrangements. We had already cooked food and bought drinks for the wedding," he said.

He said when he contacted her parents, they said they would not force her and asked him to come and take back the money he gave them to prepare for the wedding.

Uzoigwe said he was still shocked about what happened because he did not quarrel with Ifunanya before the fateful day.

He said he also made sure she was comfortable by making money available to her while in school.

Uzoigwe is a business man based in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi State capital. He met Ifunanya at their home town, Umuchu, where he proposed and sent her to school.

Where Is Mrs Buhari?

..click here only if you are using your phone http://pin.bbm.com/C002329DA to join to our bbm channel, or just search bbmchannel prettypeoplenaija

From: Ladun Liadi

Where Is Mrs Buhari?
So a Nigerian writer interested in politics is asking where Mrs Buhari is, and why the APC presidential candidate has left her out of his presidential pursuits 3 times, and even now making it his 4th time.

'When Buhari had a photo-shoot recently where he was dressed in the attire of various cultures of Nigeria, I wondered why he was the only one in the picture. How does a man run for president, take pictures of himself at a desk with the Nigerian flag in the background but his partner of many years would be missing from the shoots? They decked the General in suit and even had a picture of him "hi-fiving" a child but there is none where his wife appears? Why? I do not want to speculate on his private life as a married man but I think those images portray him as a self-centred person who does not share space' he wrote. Read the full article culled from Punch after the cut.

The photograph of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Lagos State interdenominational thanksgiving service standing with his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and Governor Babatunde Fashola on the front row says something about the APC presidential candidate.

There have been murmurs about his donning a fez cap in church – that he is a Muslim disrespecting Christian tradition. For me, his forgetting to take off his cap shows he has yet to fully master the nuances and rituals of spaces he is treading for the sake of his political ambition. If I were a Christian, I would pardon him. What is not so easily dismissable in the photo-op, however, is much more telling than his cap. In the picture, all the aforementioned men had their wives by their sides except Buhari.

For a man who preaches "change" and desires to rule a country made up of men and women in almost equal halves, I wonder why he finds the anomaly of an "invisible wife" wholesome. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Mrs Aisha Buhari would be left behind in her husband's aspiration.

In 2003, she was not prominent when he lost to Olusegun Obasanjo's "moonslide." Four years later, not much had changed though one could argue that his biggest opponent, Umaru Yar'Adua, did not "use" his wife to campaign either. In 2011, when the presidential election was on, I asked one of Buhari's closest aides where Mrs Buhari was and why she was practically unseen in her husband's various campaign efforts.

My query sprang from his image: If you are being termed an ogre, furnish reasons why you could not be one. His wife standing side-by-side with him would, I told the aide, soften his unimpressible image.

This Buhari's aide agreed with me that his wife would be strategically invaluable for his persona. He said she was coming to Lagos at that time and he would arrange press interviews to introduce her to the public.

The aide called shortly after to say Buhari was not sold to the idea. The aide was apologetic while explaining why Buhari did not want his wife displayed like a ware even in the heat of campaigns. He said Buhari himself could be rather reticent; then, I should consider the religious factor, and that the General was too disciplined for such and several etceteras. I wished him the best and left it at that. By then, Patience Jonathan was criss-crossing the country and canvassing votes for her husband in her peculiar ways. Even though she was being mocked for her lack of sophistication, she was winning some hearts because of her confidence.

By the time Buhari's wife would surface to sell the "softer" side of her husband; by the time people saw her on TV expressing herself more articulately than the woman who would become the First Lady, the election had practically been won and lost.

We were eventually availed her credentials: she is not just a housewife who sits at home making "Fura de Nunu" for her husband but a distinguished person in her own right. I do not claim Buhari's loss of the 2011 election had to do with his wife but I think the belatedness of her emergence was a flaw.

If your own spouse is not at the forefront of your dream, it could be interpreted in several ways. One is that the woman does not believe in you enough, or that you do not have faith in her abilities, or you are the alpha male who believes women should be seen and not heard. Any which way, it does not look good.

After three defeats, you would expect Buhari's packaging to prominently include his wife. You would expect an image of him as a loving husband and devoted husband to be part of his virtues marketed to the public. You would have thought he would take his wife with him for the photo-ops he is garnering in churches and elsewhere. But no, she is still missing in the picture.

When Buhari had a photo-shoot recently where he was dressed in the attire of various cultures of Nigeria, I wondered why he was the only one in the picture. How does a man run for president, take pictures of himself at a desk with the Nigerian flag in the background but his partner of many years would be missing from the shoots? They decked the General in suit and even had a picture of him "hi-fiving" a child but there is none where his wife appears? Why? I do not want to speculate on his private life as a married man but I think those images portray him as a self-centred person who does not share space.

When the picture of his family appeared, eventually, we saw his wife, children, son-in-law and even grandchildren but this time, Buhari himself was missing. I am still trying to wrap my head around the kind of PR that misses the simple fact that Buhari should have appeared in his family picture.

There are several reasons one can adduce for Buhari and his wife's photo hide-and-seek. One, the culture of lovey-dovey is simply not him. Like the Igbo proverb that says a man cannot learn to be left-handed in old age, I wager that this is a left-handedness that Buhari has not learnt and is probably a far harder lesson than removing his cap during a church service. Two, he probably thinks being seen with a woman will detract from his famed militarist discipline and Spartan image. He has done a lot of bending just to project himself as a non-Islamic fundamentalist pan Nigerian statesman but the woman aspect just does not resonate well with him – yet. Third, the religion and culture Buhari has known all his life do gift a second-class citizen status to women.

As if the invisible wife syndrome is not grave enough, he even threatened to abolish the office of the First Lady. Did he think the "First Ladyship" is all about frivolity and has no symbolic and cultural value that redeems it? Did he consider the implication of such a move for his image and ultimately, ambition? His manifesto promises women empowerment but I wonder how he proposes to empower Nigerian women when his own wife is tucked away from view.

True, Nigeria has had First Ladies who have turned out as a real nuisance; Area Mothers who have their aliterate fingers spotted in every political conundrum. The classlessness of some, however, should not overshadow the beauty of others who reinvented themselves and rose to the status of a genuine First Lady.

Mo Abudu Is Forbes Africa's Most Successful Woman
Executive Chairman and CEO of Ebony Life TV, Africa's first Global Black Entertainment and Lifestyle network,  Mo Abudu was announced on Thursday 1 January, 2015 by Forbes  as Africa's Most Successful Woman of The Year.

Mo, who has been described by international news outlets as 'Africa's Africa', is keen in her resolve to rewrite Africa's story.

In a recent interview with Mfonobong Nsehe of Forbes, she recounts her entrepreneurial journey and reflects on the lessons she has learned along the way.

Speaking on her entrepreneurial journey and lessons she has learned along the way, she said "This kind of afro-pessimism simply fuelled a burning, deep-seated desire in my subconscious to one day help to rewrite the African story; to get people to talk about the issues that affect our society and to tell the African narrative in a contemporary and interesting way; to change the perception the world had of us; to let the world know that in spite of our challenges as a developing continent, Africans are not a bunch of savages but mostly a breed of gifted and remarkable people."

Also recently honoured with a Doctorate degree at Babcock University, spoke at MIPCOM 2014's Global Channel Distribution Day at Auditorium Esterel, Palais des Festivals.

"Anyone who wishes to be an entrepreneur must know that bright ideas are great, however, they are not even half of the work; execution is everything. Yes, as the saying goes, 'there is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come', but when that time comes, you must be prepared to bleed sweat, tears and blood to bring your ideas to life."  Mo Abudu responded, when asked to give an advice to people who will like to follow her entrepreneurial footsteps.

She continued saying, "For women, never ever see your gender as a handicap. Never think yourself inferior. Be ready to do twice the work for half the usual reward. When the door isn't opened, kick down the door. Take the regular harassment and other obstacles women face in stride. In fact, be prepared for them. Be prepared to be told off, to be told you are not good enough, to go unrewarded for even doing the same work your male counterpart has done. Work with your passion, let it consume and drive you. Do not be distracted. On down days, it will keep you going. Also, surround yourself with like minds. In fact, you should exhaustively curate those who will go along with you on your journey. I can't say that enough."

Photo: Man Set Ablaze In Ghana For Trying To Rob Another Man
Luck ran out on a suspected thief this week around Petroleum down, a suburb of Dansoman in Accra, Ghana when he went to rob a certain man in his house alongside his crime partner. The said thief was caught in the process, and instead of the people who caught him to handle him over to the police, they allowed people to gather around them, beat him to a pulp, hung a tyre around his neck, then set him ablaze. His partner was fortunate to have escaped the angry mob, but he wasn't.

A resident also confirmed this to Ghana's Citi FM saying;
..click here only if you are using your phone http://pin.bbm.com/C002329DA to join to our bbm channel, or just search bbmchannel prettypeoplenaija
"They were actually two in number who attempted stealing from a man's residence as he was having his bath. The man whose age I can't tell, was lynched by the residents and lit up while the other escaped."

I just think others should always be given a second chance. RIP!
