WOOOO...Father cleared of murdering drunk driver who killed his two young sons

Father cleared of murdering drunk driver who killed his two young sons
David Barajas (pictured above) has been acquitted by a jury in Texas court after he allegedly shot dead the man who killed his two young sons, David Jr 12, and Caleb, 11. Barajas had been standing trial over the shooting death of Jose Banda, 20, who was found dead in his car shortly after an accident in Houston, Texas.

According to prosecutors, David Barajas and his sons had been driving home on the day of the incident when they ran out of fuel near their home. He then asked his two sons to get down from the car and help push it. As the boys were pushing the car, a drunk Banda crashed into the back of his car instantly crushing his sons to death. Prosecutors say an angry Barajas returned home to retrieve his gun which he then used to shoot Banda with a single gunshot to the head.

When Barajas went to court for the killing, he was found not guilty of the murder.

According to USA Today, a jury found that there was not enough evidence to convict the father and there were celebrations in court. After the verdict, Barajas said;

"I thank God. This has been hard on me and my family. A lot of weight's been lifted off my back. I'm hurt about it. It hurt me from the beginning, on top of the hurt that I was already feeling because of my sons."

Police searched Barajas house where they found an empty gun holster and ammunition. However, a gun was never found and forensics tests found no trace of gunpowder on his hands.

hmmmmm Cameroon Kills 27 ''President Jonathan’s Sibling'' In Border Clashes

Cameroon Kills 27 President Jonathan's Siblings In Border Clashes

Cameroon's army has killed 27 siblings of Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan's 'siblings' near a northern town, state radio said Wednesday, in a sign of growing cross-border activity by the militants.

The Nigerian Leader's siblings crossed the border into Cameroon earlier this week, after attacking a military base and police station in Nigeria and apparently sending some 480 Nigerian troops retreating across the frontier.

"Cameroon soldiers have killed 27 Boko Haram elements during an attack in a locality near Fotokol in the far-north," state radio CRTV said, adding that the deaths occurred Monday and Tuesday. There was no
word on any Cameroonian casualties.

A Cameroonian soldier in the region said the militants had been pushed back into Nigeria, with calm returning to the area Wednesday.

In recent weeks, Boko Haram, which is seeking to carve out a de facto Islamic state in northern Nigeria, has stepped up attacks in Cameroon, leading the central African country to increase deployments along its
jungle border.

But Cameroon has not always been successful in fending off Boko Haram raids. President Paul Biya dismissed two senior army officers last month following attacks in which at least seven people were killed and
the wife of the vice prime minister was kidnapped.

It will be recalled that president Jonathan called the book haram militants his siblings.

Wowee.. Saying No to pre-marital sex - Couple narrate their experience

From: Kemi Filani

Saying No to pre-marital sex - Couple narrate their experience
Rebecca and James got married two years ago ad have a son. In a new interview with 1 + The One, they disclosed how they successfully scaled through the pre-marital sex temptation, enjoy!
Rebecca: Hello! We are Becky and James Aladiran and we lead a prayer movement called Prayer Storm: www.prayerstorm.org. I lead worship and James leads the Intercession. We are in love with God and running after a grace enabled lifestyle that is holy and set apart to Him. We love to seek and worship Him and are on a journey after His presence. We also have a baby who turned 1 recently! I am 24 and James is 30 and we celebrated our two-year anniversary on the 28th of July which is the day after our baby's birthday. Our son is named Justice.

Hiya! I'm Justice Aladiran :-) Cuteeee!
I also train two days a week as a seamstress working for a Christian business called Wedding Angels (http://www.theweddingangels.org) that helps couples get married with everything they need. Hopefully in two years I'll be able to make a wedding dress from scratch!

James works full time at the Message Trust as their Prayer coordinator and splits his time there to also establish Prayer Storm which he will be transitioning into full time as it becomes a registered Charity in September!
James: Like my wife has said, I'm James and I lead a Christian Charity called Prayer Storm, I've been married for two years :-)
Thank you guys! Lovely to meet you.. So tell us James, how did you meet Rebecca?

The Worship Leader & The Intercessor! :-D

James: I met Becky through prayer Storm. At the time I was looking to connect with musicians/worship leaders who had a heart for Prayer. I worked with her mum at The Message Trust and mentioned to her one day that I was looking to connect with young people with a heart for prayer. She recommended that I got in touch with Becky because she is a worship leader and has a heart for prayer.

..What was the attraction for you?

James: Her heart for God and the vision she had for her life was the same as the vision I had for mine.
And Rebecca?
Rebecca: I loved James' passionate pursuit of Jesus. I started out really respecting Him as a man of God and later fell in love with Him in a Prayer meeting! There's nothing more attractive than a man after Gods own heart!

That's really beautiful Becky.
How did you know that "This is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with?"

Engaged!
Becky: I knew I wanted to spend my life with James because I knew he was God's best for me and our destiny was a powerful one together. I know that for me not to have married James would have cost me God's best for me in terms of my destiny and purpose in God.
James: We became best friends and I fell in love with her. I felt in my heart that my destiny was connected with hers. Plus I felt God speak to me about it.

That's wonderful.. Now to the main question, what inspired your decision to wait?
James: For me, I wanted to honour God and honour Becky. I knew it was the right thing to do.
Rebecca: When I hit puberty and started to develop and experience hormones, (wink wink nudge nudge) because of my lack of maturity and understanding...plus media exposure, I said to God "I don't know why it's important to wait, I only see sex as a pleasure thing but people call it making love and until I can understand the concept of making love I don't think I'm mature enough to make any kinds of decisions on sex." So I waited for understanding and prayed for Grace to keep myself pure because I knew I could easily have just given into very strong temptation + a truck loada hormones!
Anyway when I was 17, I felt God tell me to leave College to do a gap year called Challenge Team UK which was a charity which sent a bunch of 18-25 year olds to tour the UK delivering assemblies and school & college lessons on saving sex for marriage. Although this charity was run by Christians, it wasn't a Christian charity and had no biblical content to its material shared in schools. They gave Christian training to us by a lady named Pam Stenzel (Sex Has a Price Tag) which was awesome and we went into schools and talked about the physical and emotional consequences of sex, the damaging effects of pornography, and how to build long lasting healthy relationships. We did it in a way that made sense and was fun and hilarious for the kids and young adults. We talked about sexual health, as well as pregnancy and contraception and their user failure rates which was scarily high man! But so many kids would thank me at every place I went to saying "I never knew I could just say no."

As much as I learnt and became wiser through these times I never became so thankful I waited until after marriage. After nearly 2 years I still say to my James, I'm so glad I waited! I'm not gonna get graphic but the first time we had sex, even though we had little idea of what we were supposed to do, it will always be my favourite time. Your 'first time' is probably the most vulnerable thing you'll ever do. To expose your whole self to someone for the first time is the time that usually sticks the most and I'm so blessed to have shared it with my James on our wedding night.
I shudder at the thought of someone else knowing me that way. You'll never realise how precious your first time is until you've experienced it. I can't even stress it enough. It's more than just pleasure. Media and pornography have made it so impersonal and distorted. I remember a friend of ours who believed in waiting but just didn't, and ended up living with their spouse before marriage and he said to us after he got married (when we were engaged) that he never knew how important it was to wait until he got married and he wished he'd just waited and now I'm married I completely understand why.

You know there are so many facts and statistics I've heard and known over the years that tell you saving sex for marriage is the best way, the most biblical, the safest and healthiest. Which I totally agree with, but I just wanna share with you from my experience that there's no greater gift than sharing your first time together with your spouse, and until you experience your wedding night for yourself you're just gonna have to take my word for it. :-)

Also, I have to say that it's NEVER too late to start waiting if you haven't.
Thanks for that in-depth response Becky and for sharing your personal experience as well! Was it difficult though, like did you get to any point when you wanted to just let go and give in?

Becky: Oh Lord! Is that a rhetorical question? I don't understand people who find it easy. My advice to anyone is to find accountability that knows where you are and when, and asks you tough questions because you will want to let go and you will make it happen if you aren't accountable. Things that worked for us - Find someone you are honest with but you'd be way to ashamed to do something and then have them know. Cover yourselves in prayer. Don't stay up late. Try to be in public together. Guys don't think you're 'safe' around your lady because we can be just as horny as you fellas! Put a time limit on how long you spend time together. Watch where you put those hands! Girls dress extra modest around them. Leggings are not trousers you may see it that way but guys don't! lol. Guys be honest about your struggles with things your lady may be doing or wearing which is causing you to stumble.
Honesty is key - Be honest and open with each other
James: No, I didn't just want to "just let go" lol. Yes, it was difficult, but we were both committed to staying pure till we got married so we made ourselves accountable to people around us. We both knew we had to fight for purity. In our eyes the victory was much more greater than momentary pleasure.
I believe the power of sin is in secrecy. So, what we tried to do was to walk in the light and not have things hidden. We made ourselves accountable to people who could ask us the hard questions. We had physical limits i.e. no go areas in terms of touching, kissing etc... We set time limits too.
Thank you for that. Any advice you would give to yourself as a single person in preparation for marriage now you've crossed that line?

Rebecca: You're gonna be married for the rest of your life, singleness and waiting is quickly finished.
James:  Let God do so much work in you that when you get married it is easier to reflect His heart and love to your spouse everyday. Surround yourself with Strong, Godly, pure men of God.

Nice one, noted! In 3 sentences, what's your experience of being married?

"Doing life with my best friend"
Rebecca: Doing life with your best friend and being one in everything. Dreaming together and for each other. Falling asleep in each others' arms!
James: Dreaming together, companionship and growing in God together.

Beautiful! Finally, before we go, it's PDA time! We always like to encourage you to publicly affirm each other -

Rebecca: James we've been through so much together and I'm glad it's you I've been through it all with. I never stop thinking about how perfect we are for each other and how I've never respected or looked up to anyone like I do you. I love doing life together and growing up together. I love you so much and can't wait for the future!

Like Rebecca responded when we asked if it was difficult, "Is that a rhetorical question?" lol.. Don't get it twisted, it ain't easy (at all, at all!) - Attraction is a wonderful blessing and managing it could be quite dicey! But by God's grace it's very possible..

Wayne Rooney has Been Made New England Captain

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been named the new England captain by manager Roy Hodgson.

The 28-year-old takes over from Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, who retired after England's World Cup elimination.

Rooney has 40 goals in 95 appearances, and was named club captain by United boss Louis van Gaal earlier this month.

England play Norway at Wembley on 3 September in a friendly before their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign starts in Switzerland on 8 September.

Hodgson has named four uncapped players in his latest squad, with Arsenal's 19-year-old defender Calum Chambers, and Newcastle's Jack Colback, Tottenham's Danny Rose and Aston Villa's Fabian Delph, all 24, in line to make their international debuts.

I don't have a problem with Messi- Cristiano Ronaldo

By  | August 28, 2014

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that he does not have a bad relationship with Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo and Messi have dominated world football in recent years and are widely regarded as the two best current players in modern football, having shared the Ballon d'Or and Fifa Ballon d'Or between them during the last six years.

Much has been said and written about the alleged difficult relationship between the two, but Ronaldo has stressed he has a perfectly good professional relationship with the Argentine.

"It's not at all true that we have a bad relationship. We are colleagues and have a professional relationship," the Portugal star was quoted as saying by Marca.

"We don't have a relationship outside of football like I have with some other players. He tries to do his best for his club and national team and I do the same. There is a certain rivalry where we are each doing our utmost for our teams.

"This rivalry is part of my life. It is only normal that people compare us. The same happens in Formula 1 with Ferrari and Mercedes. I'm used to it. This has been the case not only since I joined Madrid, but already when I was still at Manchester United.

"I hope that we can both laugh about all this. Football is a game, it's something fun and something we both like. We must face this rivalry in a positive way because it is a good thing. Football is something beautiful that all the fans enjoy."

Ronaldo has started the 2014-15 campaign in fine fashion, scoring three goals in four official appearances.

Why This Woman Is Facing Decades In Prison For Going To The Hospital

From: <Jide>

Why This Woman Is Facing Decades In Prison For Going To The Hospital

A 33-year-old woman from Indiana faces decades in prison after she sought medical attention at a hospital as she was bleeding from a premature delivery. The case is just the latest example illustrating the real-world consequences of the harsh state laws that essentially criminalize pregnancy.

According to the charges being filed against her, Purvi Patel attempted to end her pregnancy last year by taking pills that she bought online from Hong Kong. The pills didn't work, and Patel eventually delivered a premature baby at home. When she went to an emergency room to seek treatment after giving birth, the staff asked why she didn't have an infant with her. She said her baby appeared to be dead, and she had wrapped it in a bag and placed it in a dumpster.

Now, Patel is being charged with both neglect and feticide, allegations that actually conflict with each other. She was initially charged with "neglect of a dependent" after prosecutors learned she left her baby in in a dumpster, a charge that won't apply if the baby was already dead. But she's now also being charged with "fetal murder of an unborn child" — a charge that an Indiana judge allowed to stand this week — for taking drugs that could have illegally ended her pregnancy.

As the Daily Beast's Sally Kohn points out, the logic doesn't exactly hold up. "The State of Indiana intends to convict and incarcerate Purvi Patel one way or another, whether the fetus she delivered was alive or not — never mind the fact that the facts necessary for filing the one charge (that the fetus have been alive) entirely contradict the facts necessary for filing the other (that the fetus have been dead) and vice versa," Kohn writes.

On top of that, reproductive rights advocates and legal experts point out that Indiana's "feticide" law was never intended to be applied to pregnant women themselves. It was originally written as a way to crack down on illegal abortion providers. Critics say Patel fits into a disturbing trend; similar "fetal homicide" laws are in place in at least 38 states, and they're increasingly used to punish women who end up having miscarriages or stillbirths.

"Once again targeting a woman of color, prosecutors in Indiana are using this very sad situation to establish that intentional abortions as well as unintentional pregnancy losses should be punished as crimes," Lynn Paltrow, the executive director of National Advocates for Pregnant Women, which tracks these cases closely, said in a recent statement about Patel's case. "In the U.S., as a matter of constitutional law and human decency, no woman should be arrested for the outcome of her pregnancy."

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{YOU CAN SKIP READING THIS PART...In other news..... Femi Olulana of the Davidfirelabel is a young, Dynamic and Multi-Talented Artist with a very unique taste

Patel is the second woman to be prosecuted under Indiana's feticide law. The state also pressed charges against Bei Bei Shuai, a Chinese immigrant who attempted suicide while pregnant and ended up delivering a baby that didn't survive. Shaui was imprisoned for more than a year before a plea deal was reached in April, and her case sparked international outrage. More than 100,000 people signed onto a petition demanding Shuai's release and pointing out that "it is wrong to have a set of separate and unequal laws for pregnant women."

The laws that allow states to arrest pregnant women for allegedly harming their fetuses actually end up undermining public health. Major medical groups like the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists oppose "feticide" laws because they ultimately deter women from seeking the medical attention they need.

Harsh restrictions on abortion, as well as unreasonably broad definitions of "fetal homicide," have created a society in which all pregnant women are transformed into potential suspects in the eyes of the law. And since miscarriage and abortion are relatively common pregnancy experiences — and research has proven that women are going to end their pregnancies whether or not it's legal — that means we're also approaching a society in which desperate women may be too terrified to ask for health treatment. For instance, if Patel had known that she was at risk for being charged with fetal homicide, would she have thought twice about going to the emergency room? Would she have joined the millions of women around the world who die from botched abortions and risky childbirth?

"We cannot afford to deter a woman from seeking reproductive health care," the Indiana Religious Coalition for Reproductive Justice pointed out in a statement released this week. "Those of us who are Christian know that when Jesus responded to the hemorrhaging woman there was no place for aggressive interrogation and punishment. It was all for healing."

Nigeria confirms Ebola death in Port Harcourt

Nigeria confirms Ebola death in Port Harcourt

Nigeria on Thursday said that a doctor had died from Ebola in the southeastern oil city of Port Harcourt in the first case of the deadly virus outside of its biggest city, Lagos.

Health minister Onyebuchi Chukwu said the medic died on August 22 after treating a patient who had contact with the Liberian-American man who brought the virus to Nigeria, and who died in a Lagos hospital on July 25.

"Following the report of this death by the doctor's widow the next day, the case had been thoroughly investigated and laboratory analysis showed that this doctor died from EVD (Ebola Virus Disease)," he told reporters in the capital Abuja.

The latest case brings to six the number of people who have died from the haemorrhagic fever in Nigeria. Fifteen people have now been confirmed to have the disease.

On Wednesday, Chukwu had said that the virus was contained because there were no cases outside Lagos, but warned against complacency in fighting the disease.

News that a doctor died 435 kilometres (270 miles) away will raise fears about the spread of the virus, just as Nigerians began to think that they had stopped Ebola in its tracks.

Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state, is the centre of Nigeria's oil industry and home to a number of oil giants, including Anglo-Dutch giant Shell and US firm Chevron.

Chukwu said a patient who had contact with the Liberian-American victim managed to slip through the net and go to Port Harcourt in the last week of July, where he saw the doctor after showing Ebola-like symptoms.

"After four days, following a manhunt for him, he returned to Lagos by which time he was found to be without symptoms," Chukwu told reporters.

"This case would have been of no further interest since he had completed the 21 days of surveillance without any other issue but for the fact that the doctor who treated him died last Friday."

Following the doctor's death, the minister said that several contacts had now been "traced, registered and placed under surveillance". He did not specify how many.

His widow has shown symptoms of the virus and has been placed in isolation pending results of laboratory tests, he added.
