Despite Divorce Crisis: Chris Oyakhilome’s Church Celebrates Today

Despite Divorce Crisis: Chris Oyakhilome's Church Celebrates Today Members of Christ Embassy, whose founding spiritual leader, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, is facing a divorce suit instituted in London by his long estranged wife, Anita, seem to have taken the unfolding saga with grace and equanimity.

Apparently determined to ensure that the biblical prophecy, "strike the shepherd and the sheep shall scatter," does not come true for the Pentecostal ministry populated by young people, the members will this morning hold an extravagant praise service to celebrate the continuing faithfulness to the church and to motivate each other to hold up in the face of the present circumstance.

During a short presentation at the midweek service held at the Kudirat Abiola Way, Lagos headquarters of the church (which also serves as the home of Lagos Zone 5 of the church), one of the zonal leaders, Pastor Roland Dabo, quoted from the Bible in the Book of Nehemiah (chapter 8, verse 10) and said: "Remember that in the month of August, our dear man of God (a reference to Pastor Chris) told us to always know that the joy of the Lord is our strength. We must consistently give God praise in all circumstances," adding that giving praise is a surefire "way to silence the enemy and the avenger."

Orange and guava were his favourite but he never ate mango because one day when he was much younger, he had followed his mother to the farm to harvest maize. He had gone to the mango tree with Buba, one of his fathers' sons, whom he had met in the farm. Buba plucked several mangoes and they sat beneath the tree to eat. He ate many and later while he was returning home with his mother, his stomach began to ache and he soon began to stool. It was frequent and it disturbed his mother. It took him two days to get cured and he always remembered that day and ever since, he never touched mango. But he was in love with oranges. In fact, he missed the oranges in his father's orchard. "Yes orange. There's an orange tree behind the
