"I am not gay" - Mr Universe Nigeria says

"I am not gay" - Mr Universe Nigeria says

In an interview with The Nation, current Mr Universe Nigeria, Francis Egwuatu, said that because he went for a male pageant doesn't mean he's gay...

"I am not gay, and it is very annoying when people make such comments. There was this girl that added me on twitter. She was like; 'Tell me the truth, are you gay?' It was so annoying. Some people think that for you to win the pageant you must be gay and men must sleep with you and all, but that's not true. I just wish I could do a story and the heading will just be 'I am not gay'. People have concluded in their mind that we are gays. Even when I was profiled on Linda Ikeji's blog, there were comments like, gay alert; the guy is gay and all that.

People feel if you are a male pageant contestant, the only hard work you need to do is to sleep in the room. That's a negative thought, but I believe a person with a positive thought won't think like that. For me, you just have to be positive; you just have to believe in yourself. I have gone for pageants that I lost (Mr. Tourism Nigeria), but that didn't stop me from going for more.

What does he think of gays? Find his answer after the cut...

What do you think about gays?
Actually, it's bad in our country. It's not right; God has made it a man to woman, not a man to man or woman to woman. It's very wrong, just like its meant to be a negative to positive not positive to positive or a negative to negative, it's quite bad, I don't think it's cool.

"You guessed right my friend," Tanko said. "But why is that boy so greedy? That was how he went to pluck oranges behind the cathedral. We plucked eight oranges and he wanted to have five simply because he was the one who suggested the idea," Tanko said. "That is his way? He's just like his father, the devil's merchant," Sulu said. He had heard one man Maigona say of bawa's father one day and he remembered it today. "Orange'?" Garba said. His father had a farm in Dogongari and had about seven trees of oranges and several of other fruits including mango, guava, almond, and cashew. Orange and guava were his favourite but he never ate mango because one day when he was much younger, he had followed his mother to the farm to harvest maize. He had gone to the mango tree with Buba, one of his fathers' sons, whom he had met in the farm. Buba plucked several mangoes and they sat beneath the tree to eat. He ate many and later while he was returning home with his mother, his stomach began to ache and he soon began to stool. It was frequent and it disturbed his mother. It took him two days to get cured and he always remembered that day and ever since, he never touched mango. But he was in love with oranges. In fact, he missed the oranges in his father's orchard. "Yes orange. There's an orange tree behind the
