Omoni Oboli staunchly defends the dress she wore to meet Nigerian President

This is an interesting case that has spurred so much debate.

Last week, actress Omoni Oboli had the privilege of screening her new movie "Mrs Elliot" at the presidential villa in Nigeria with the president Jonathan in attendance. However, all eyes were on her cleavage which many deemed as inappropriate. Omoni however sees nothing wrong with what she wore and has since establish her defense:

"I styled myself and I thought the outfit was appropriate because there were no vital parts showing. Sometimes the angles with which the pictures are taken can portray certain things you do not have intention of portraying. We have pictures from the event you won't even see what people are seeing. The truth is that a lot of people are very bitter and when people are bitter, they try to look for a lot of negative things in every positive thing. It is unfortunate that we are in the limelight because if someone else wears that outfit, no one will say anything. I don't even read blogs and see the comments. My true fans know who I am and my intention when I am doing things."

After releasing the stamen above defending herself, Omoni later released this statement partially acknowledging some of the criticisms:

"In retrospect, …that awkward moment when you are all dressed up for your event with your speech in hand… For your mind, you are bam! Everyone around you says same… and then…Flash! The pictures say something else. What?! Was that me? *sigh* it happens to all of us every once in a while but I guess worse when you are in the limelight. God know say no be so I plan am but it is what it is."

It is true people can criticize for any trivial thing. What Omoni Oboli isn't realizing however is that many of her fans really respect her. They see her in high regard and look up towards her. So some fans were naturally disappointed that she wore that dress to the Nigerian presidential villa and rightly so, criticized her for it. Rather than say, "a lot of people are very bitter", Omoni should instead listen to some of the advice and use it. Those criticizing are her true fans and are not afraid to tell her when she goes wrong. At least it's good that she acknowledged some of the good criticism as a first step.

The picture below is when she was shaking hands with the Nigerian president with the vice president standing next to him. What do you think?
