Stella Damasus recommends national posthumous award for deceased Ebola victim

There are only a few people who are gutsy enough to say things without fear or favor.

…and one of them is Stella Damasus.

The scourge of Ebola is unfortunately taking so many lives in some West African countries. The current count is more than 1,000 victims dead. One of the deceased who passed away a few days ago is Dr Ameyo Adadevoh. When the first reported cases of Ebola was reported in Nigeria and some doctors were afraid to treat the patient for fear that they may also get infected, Dr Ameyo took the challenge and readily attended to the patients. Unfortunately, she also got infected with the Ebola virus and died a few days ago.

For her courage, Stella Damasus is advocating for a national posthumous award in her honor.

"Kind and beautiful Dr Ameyo Adadevoh stood her ground to protect Nigeria. She refused to allow Sawyer leave first consultants hospital even when Liberian ambassador pressured her to release him. Imagine what would have happened if she had let him go. Ebola would have been more widespread than what we are dealing with now. I strongly believe she deserves a national posthumous award.

The cross river state government should honor this woman because Dr Sawyer was supposed to attend a seminar in Calabar. If she had not stopped him from going there, what do you think would have happened to the people of cross river?"

Sawyer was the Liberian victim who was reported to have flown into Nigeria with the Ebola virus and Dr Ameyo Adadevoh attended to him in Lagos-Nigeria. We dare say it should be an international posthumous honor in her name. What do you think?
